Nancy Guthrie, 84, the mother of NBC “Today” co‑host Savannah Guthrie, remains missing after investigators say she was taken from her Catalina Foothills, Tucson, home in the early hours of Feb. 1.
Authorities released doorbell footage showing a masked, armed individual on the porch and say blood consistent with Guthrie’s DNA was found at the scene.
Investigators, including the FBI, are reviewing thousands of hours of video, cellphone data and forensic evidence; the sheriff says there is DNA that is “still workable” and genetic genealogy is being pursued.
The family and federal authorities offer combined rewards including a $1 million family reward and a $100,000 FBI reward.
The Guthrie family renewed a public plea this week asking Tucson residents to recheck footage and memories from Jan. 11, Jan. 31 and Feb. 1 after questions surfaced about whether an earlier image dated Jan. 11 was reliable.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos defended his department’s handling amid criticism and urged anyone holding the suspect or Guthrie’s whereabouts to “just let her go.” No arrests have been announced.
