Antoine Griezmann will leave Atlético Madrid to join Major League Soccer side Orlando City in July 2026, the clubs announced on March 24.
The 35-year-old French forward signed a deal through the 2027-28 season with an option for 2028-29 that will take effect after the European season and the 2026 World Cup.
Griezmann, Atlético’s all-time leading scorer with 211 goals for the club, has 298 career club goals in 792 professional appearances and was a key part of France’s 2018 World Cup-winning side (137 caps, 44 goals), having retired from international football in 2024.
He travelled to Florida during an Atlético break to finalise terms and described the move as a new chapter; Orlando owner Mark Wilf called it a “landmark moment.” The player is expected to be registered as a Designated Player, a move that could require roster and salary-cap adjustments.
Orlando, 13th in the MLS Eastern Conference with one win in five matches, views Griezmann as a catalyst to revive its season and commercial profile ahead of the 2026 World Cup window.
