On March 25-26, 2026 Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that the United States has linked post-war security guarantees to Kyiv withdrawing from parts of the Donbas, saying Washington is prepared to finalise guarantees âonce Ukraine is ready to withdraw.â Zelensky said the Middle East conflict â and U.S. focus on it â is increasing pressure on Kyiv.
At the same time multiple Western intelligence reports, cited by the Financial Times and others, say Russia began shipping drones, medicine and food to Iran in early March and is close to completing phased deliveries by the end of the month.
Moscow denies supplying lethal aid, calling such reports âfake.â Zelensky also accused Russia of attempting to âblackmailâ the U.S. by offering to stop sharing intelligence with Iran in exchange for Washington curbing intelligence to Ukraine.
Kyiv is simultaneously pitching its battle-tested anti-drone expertise to Gulf states, offering interceptors and tactics in return for air-defence systems, ballistic protection and financial support as European aid stalls and Patriot missile stocks are diverted to the Middle East.
