Golf great Tiger Woods was arrested March 27, 2026, after his Land Rover flipped onto its side on a residential road on Jupiter Island, Florida.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek said Woods attempted to overtake a pickup towing a small trailer at what witnesses described as high speed, clipped the trailer and the SUV rolled.
Woods, 50, crawled out uninjured.
Deputies said he showed signs of impairment; he took a breathalyser that registered âtriple zeroesâ for alcohol but twice refused a urinalysis.
He was charged with driving under the influence, property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test, spent roughly eight hours in Martin County Jail (a statutory minimum after a DUI arrest) and was released on bail late Friday.
Authorities said drug-recognition experts on scene suspected impairment from some type of medication or drug but noted no drugs were found in the vehicle and that refusal to provide urine means investigators will not get definitive toxicology results.
A mug shot and photos from the scene were released, prompting widespread media coverage and public reaction, including comments from President Donald Trump and attention on Woodsâ partner, Vanessa Trump.

Observers emphasized two points: Woodsâ negative alcohol breath test but refusal of a postâarrest urine test leaves toxicology unresolved, and his documented history of surgeries/chronic pain is commonly suggested as context for suspected medication impairment rather than alcohol.
