Organisers of the French Open on April 16 said the 2026 tournament will increase total prize money by 9.5% to €61.7 million, a rise of about €5.3-5.4 million on 2025.
The boost is targeted at qualifying and early rounds — qualifying pay rises nearly 13% and first-round losers will receive €87,000 — while singles champions will each earn €2.8 million.
Doubles and mixed doubles purses were also lifted and wheelchair competition prize money was increased to €1,018,500 (about +14.6%). Roland-Garros will remain the only Grand Slam keeping human line judges and has maintained equal pay for men and women.
Tournament director Amélie Mauresmo said the event will trial allowing players to wear approved connected devices to collect physical performance data, a pilot that will also be applied at Wimbledon and the US Open.
Organisers also plan ceremonies to honour players retiring or making final appearances, including Caroline Garcia, Gaël Monfils and Stan Wawrinka, and reiterated commitments to player privacy around broadcast access and restricted private areas.
