A 29-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a car struck three pedestrians in central London in the early hours of Sunday, 19 April 2026.
Metropolitan Police said emergency services were called to Argyll Street, near the London Palladium, at about 04:30 BST. A woman in her 30s was taken to hospital in a critical condition, a man in his 50s sustained life-changing injuries and a second woman in her 30s suffered minor injuries.
The driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm, dangerous driving and drink driving and remains in custody.
Officers said the incident is not being treated as terrorism-related.
Detective Chief Inspector Alison Foxwell of Specialist Crime South appealed for witnesses to come forward, giving the police reference 1404/19APR and asking anyone with information to contact 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously.
Footage circulating online reportedly shows bystanders helping the injured; police continue forensic and witness inquiries into the circumstances leading up to the collision.
