Jayson Tatum made a highly anticipated playoff return and Boston blew out the Philadelphia 76ers 123-91 in Game 1 of their Eastern Conference first-round series on Sunday in Boston.
Tatum, playing in his first postseason game since rupturing his right Achilles last season, finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists, scoring 21 in the first half.
Jaylen Brown led the team with 26 points and Neemias Queta added 13.
The Celtics never trailed, building a lead as large as 35 and connecting on 16 three-pointers.
Philadelphia, without All-Star Joel Embiid (recovering from an April 9 appendectomy), was held to 38.9% shooting and just 4-of-23 from long range; Tyrese Maxey had 21 points and eight assists.
Boston’s margin was the franchise’s largest-ever playoff-opening victory.
