April 19 — Luke Kennard scored a career playoff-high 27 points and LeBron James added 19 points and 13 assists as the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers upset the visiting Houston Rockets 107-98 in Game 1 of the Western Conference first-round series in Los Angeles.
Kennard was 9-for-13 from the floor and a perfect 5-for-5 from 3-point range, stepping into a larger role after joining the Lakers in February.
Deandre Ayton finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Marcus Smart contributed 15 points and eight assists.
