A large fire severely damaged the derelict Antrim Arms Hotel in the Diamond area of Ballycastle, County Antrim, on the evening of April 19, 2026.
Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service said the initial call was received shortly after 20:00 BST and 42 firefighters from Ballycastle, Ballymoney and Portrush attended, supported by two aerial appliances (Northland and Springfield) and a Command Support Unit from Kilrea.
Crews worked to bring the blaze under control as local residents were advised to keep windows and doors closed and avoid the area.
The listed building, which dates back to the 1700s and had been the subject of a recent refused demolition application, is described by local Sinn FĂ©in councillor Cara McShane as a cornerstone of the townâs heritage.
Early reports indicate heavy roof damage and extensive internal destruction; emergency services remained on scene working through the night.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause and an investigation is expected once the site is secured.
