Bryson DeChambeau withdrew before the final round of LIV Golf Mexico City on April 19, 2026, citing discomfort in his wrist and saying he did not want to risk further injury.
The two‑time U.S. Open champion, who had rounds of 71, 71 and 73 to sit two‑over and 16 strokes behind leader Jon Rahm at Club de Golf Chapultepec, posted on social media that he would be evaluated and hoped to play at LIV Virginia in early May.
The withdrawal followed a public complaint by DeChambeau about patchy turf and “destroyed grass” on the course, footage of which showed him challenging a rules official.
The episode comes amid wider uncertainty over the Saudi‑backed breakaway tour’s future after media reports said the Public Investment Fund may withdraw backing after 2026; LIV CEO Scott O’Neil has said the tour is funded through the season and will continue to operate.
Mexican golfer Luis Carrera replaced DeChambeau in the team competition.
