Two Eastern Conference first-round NBA openers produced contrasting results on April 18-19.
In Cleveland, the fourth-seeded Cavaliers routed the Toronto Raptors 126-113 in Game 1 on April 18.
Donovan Mitchell led Cleveland with 32 points while James Harden added 22 points and 10 assists; Max Strus contributed 24 off the bench and Evan Mobley had 17.
Mitchell extended a streak of 30-plus scoring performances in series openers to nine games.
The Cavs shot 50% from three (16-of-32) and dominated points in the paint, taking a 1-0 series lead ahead of Mondayâs Game 2 in Cleveland.
In Detroit on April 19, the eighth-seeded Orlando Magic upset top-seeded Detroit Pistons 112-101.
Paolo Banchero led Orlando with 23 points and nine rebounds, Franz Wagner finished with 19, and Desmond Bane and Wendell Carter Jr. also scored in double figures.
Cade Cunningham posted a playoff career-high 39 for Detroit, but scant help from teammates and Orlandoâs interior physicality prolonged Detroitâs postseason home drought; the Pistons have now lost 11 straight home playoff games dating to 2008.
Game 2 between Orlando and Detroit is set for Wednesday in Detroit.
