Christina Applegate, the 54-year-old Emmy-winning actress, posted an Instagram message on April 20–21 thanking fans and saying she is “getting stronger and better every day” amid widespread reports she was hospitalized in Los Angeles.
TMZ reported mid-April that Applegate had been in hospital since late March; her representative declined to confirm whether she was hospitalized or provide details of any treatment.
Applegate’s post featured a photo of a coffee mug atop her recently released memoir, You With the Sad Eyes, and said she is “taking a moment to focus on my health” and will speak more later.
Applegate publicly disclosed a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis (MS) in 2021 and has been open about long-term complications — she and fellow MS patient Jamie-Lynn Sigler co-host the MeSsy podcast.
Media accounts and unnamed friends have described periods of severe illness, and Applegate previously said she has been hospitalized dozens of times since her diagnosis and was treated for a kidney infection in 2025.
Her team has emphasized a history of “complicated medical conditions” while asking for privacy as she focuses on recovery.
