On April 24, 2026 the Tennessee Titans selected Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate with the fourth overall pick in the NFL Draft, making him the first receiver taken in this year’s class.
The move is the highest the franchise has spent on a wideout in the common-draft era and signals a clear effort to bolster the offense and support young quarterback Cam Ward.
Tate, a polished route-runner with strong contested-catch ability, posted 51 receptions for 875 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025 and was widely praised for his body control and downfield tracking.
Tennessee — coming off a 3-14 season and with new coach Robert Saleh and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll — also added Wan’Dale Robinson in free agency and restructured Calvin Ridley’s contract this off-season.
The pick came despite projections that the Titans might prioritise defensive prospects such as Arvell Reese or Sonny Styles, reflecting a preference to accelerate Ward’s development by providing a potential immediate No. 1 receiver.
