Western Australia police have stepped up searches for Samuel Robert Whitsed, 27, a Victorian man last seen on February 18 near Armadale as he walked toward the Bibbulmun Track.
Whitsed travelled from Victoria to hike the long-distance trail and was observed on Brookton Highway, near Albany Highway, carrying camping gear and reportedly intending to walk from Brookton Highway toward Mundaring.
Police say a green tent believed to be his was found near Canning Hut about 12km from Brookton Campsite, and a campsite linked to him and some purchased camping equipment have been recovered, but there have been no confirmed sightings since.
Between April 28 and May 7 officers, rangers and volunteers searched dense bushland around Canning Hut and Brookton Campsite.
WA police say they have serious concerns for his welfare and have asked landholders to check outbuildings and sheds.
Whitsed is described as 170–180cm tall, slim-medium build, short brown hair with a beard and moustache; last seen in black trousers, a red T‑shirt or light jumper and slides.
Anyone with information is urged to contact WA Police on 131 444.
