Australia’s Bonds Flying Roos won the Apex Group Bermuda Sail Grand Prix on May 10, claiming their third event victory of the 2026 SailGP season and extending their championship lead.
Led by Tom Slingsby, Australia beat Spain’s Los Gallos and Germany by Deutsche Bank in a winner-takes-all final on the Great Sound, controlling the decider after building a 14-second margin late in the race.
The victory lifted Australia to 45 points after five rounds, with Britain second on 35 and Spain third on 34.
Fleet racing across the weekend saw Spain claim several race wins (Diego Botin notching his 20th career race win), while unstable breeze and boundary penalties affected several crews.
France suffered injuries over the weekend: stand-in wing trimmer Glenn Ashby was hurt on Saturday and required surgery, and other teams reported scrapes and twists as conditions proved testing.
High-profile co-owner Ryan Reynolds attended in support of the Australian operation, which he part-owns with Hugh Jackman.
The SailGP championship now moves to New York later this month.
