Four people were shot and two others were struck by vehicles during a chaotic post-prom gathering at the Fruitport Township VFW hall near Muskegon, Michigan, late Saturday night into early Sunday (May 10-11). Authorities say âmultiple individualsâ fired rounds in the parking lot shortly before midnight; witnesses described hearing 30 to 40 shots as teenagers in prom attire ran for cover.
Police reported all four shooting victims were taken to hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening; two people hit by cars were also hospitalized, one reportedly in serious or critical condition.
One victim struck by a vehicle has been identified by family as Jordyn Williams, a Muskegon High School junior, who was in the ICU and scheduled for leg surgery; her mother said Jordyn has sickle cell anemia.
Fruitport Township police, joined by county and state agencies, are reviewing video evidence and seeking information; no arrests or suspect details had been released.
Investigators continue to urge witnesses to come forward as the community reels from the attack on a largely teenage gathering.
