Ofcom has launched a formal investigation into GB News over a November 2025 interview with US president Donald Trump that was rebroadcast in the daytime, the UK communications regulator said on May 11.
The probe will assess whether the repeat airing breached rules on due impartiality and material misleadingness.
The interview, conducted by presenter Bev Turner and first shown overnight, was repeated about 12 hours later on The Weekend (presented by Dawn Neesom) and included different surrounding discussion and participants.
Complaints cite unchallenged claims by Trump that human-caused climate change is a âhoaxâ and that parts of London are âno-go areasâ subject to sharia law.
Ofcom previously decided not to investigate the original overnight broadcast, citing contextual alternative perspectives, but said different contextual factors for the daytime repeat warrant fresh scrutiny.
Campaigners, MPs and complainants including the Reliable Media group had pressed Ofcom and explored legal challenge.
GB News said it was âsurprised and concernedâ by the regulatorâs delayed decision and raised questions about procedural fairness.
The action comes amid recent tensions between Ofcom and GB News following prior sanctions and regulatory disputes.
