Billy Idol received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 52nd American Music Awards in Las Vegas on May 25, 2026, and closed the ceremony with a medley of his hits.
Presented by Leon Thomas at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, the 70-year-old British-born rocker delivered an empowering acceptance speech urging young musicians to ââpick an instrumentââ and pursue artistic freedom.
Idol performed âEyes Without a Faceâ and âDancing With Myselfâ alongside longtime collaborator and guitarist Steve Stevens â his first-ever AMAs performance and his first appearance at the show since 2004.
The honor caps a half-century career that began in punk bands in the 1970s and includes solo breakthroughs such as Rebel Yell.
Idol released the album Dream Into It in 2025 and was featured in the 2026 documentary Billy Idol Should Be Dead.
He is slated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November 2026, joining a class that has drawn significant industry attention.
Dick Clark Productions produced the AMAs, which were hosted by Queen Latifah and broadcast on CBS and Paramount+.
