May 26 — The Houston Astros’ pitching staff produced Major League Baseball’s first no-hitter since Sept. 4, 2024, as starter Tatsuya Imai and relievers Steven Okert and Alimber Santa blanked the Texas Rangers 9-0 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
Imai (2-2) worked a career-high six hitless innings with four walks and two strikeouts, Okert navigated the seventh after a leadoff walk, and 23-year-old Santa retired six batters in two perfect innings in his major-league debut to finish the game.
Christian Walker hit a three-run homer and Yordan Alvarez added a solo shot as Houston built a multi-run lead en route to its fourth straight victory.
The final out came on a called third strike of Brandon Nimmo that was upheld after review.
The no-hitter is the Astros’ 18th in franchise history and their fifth combined no-hit effort; it ended a 629-day drought for no-hitters in the majors.
