Rapper Torrence “Boosie Badazz” Hatch has been charged with aggravated assault after Houston police say he struck a nightclub security guard in the head with a broken glass hookah base during an incident on May 24.
Authorities say the altercation began as a bouncer, identified in charging documents as Edward Iglehart, was escorting a woman — later reported to be Hatch’s niece — from a downtown Houston club when she dropped personal items and the guard bent to pick them up.
Iglehart was treated at a hospital and received eight staples for a head wound.
Multiple witnesses, including other security staff and club promoters, identified Hatch at the scene, and he was arrested and booked into Harris County Jail before being released on an $85,000 bond.
Hatch has denied wrongdoing, called the case a “money grab,” and raised questions about the accuser’s background; his next court appearance is scheduled for September.
