Death Cab for Cutie appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on June 2, 2026, to perform “Riptides,” the lead single from their 11th studio album I Built You a Tower, due June 5 via ANTI- Records.
The TV performance used moody blue lighting and showcased a restrained-to-sweeping arrangement as frontman Ben Gibbard delivered lyrics about exhaustion and wider social malaise.
The album, produced and engineered by John Congleton, was recorded at Animal Rites in Los Angeles and in band members’ homes in Seattle, Bellingham, Los Angeles and Portland.
The group has previously released singles “Punching the Flowers” and later “Stone Over Water.” To support the record, Death Cab will launch a North American summer tour beginning July 10 in Minneapolis and running through Aug. 9, including a headline slot at Outside Lands in San Francisco, before heading to the U.K., Europe and later international shows in Japan and Australia.
The TV appearance is part of a concentrated promotional push ahead of the album release and tour.
