A Norfolk County, Massachusetts jury on Dec. 15, 2025, found Brian Walshe guilty of first‑degree murder in the disappearance and death of his wife, Ana Walshe, who vanished from the couple’s Cohasset home on Jan. 1, 2023.
The 12‑member panel deliberated roughly six hours before delivering a unanimous verdict; first‑degree murder in Massachusetts carries an automatic life sentence without parole.
Prosecutors relied on digital and forensic evidence including extensive internet searches on Walshe’s devices about dismemberment and disposing of bodies, surveillance and receipts showing purchases of tools and protective gear, and DNA‑linked items recovered from dumpsters.
Walshe had pleaded guilty shortly before trial to misleading police and improperly conveying a human body and admitted disposing of remains, though Ana’s body has never been recovered.
The prosecution portrayed a motive tied to a strained marriage, an alleged affair and Walshe’s financial exposure; the defense argued Ana died suddenly and Walshe panicked, and presented no witnesses.
Sentencing is scheduled for Dec. 17, 2025, when victim impact statements are expected to be read.
