The Pokémon Company announced on Feb. 4 that a “special video” celebrating the franchise’s 30th anniversary will debut during Super Bowl LX on Feb. 8.
A social-media teaser features Jigglypuff in a recording-studio/backstage setting and closes with the Pokémon 30 logo and the Feb. 8 date; organisers have not confirmed when the clip will appear during the broadcast.
The teaser has prompted speculation that the slot could be a high-profile nostalgia-driven ad, a music tie-in, or a brief tease for upcoming products.
The anniversary month also includes other global initiatives: new Pokémon LEGO sets, the opening of PokePark Kanto in Tokyo, plans for a Pokémon experience at Universal Studios Japan, and upcoming game releases such as Pokopia in early March.
The franchise’s formal 30th anniversary date is Feb. 27, and The Pokémon Company is using multiple channels to amplify the milestone to both long-time fans and broader Super Bowl audiences.
