Four ambulances belonging to Jewish volunteer service Hatzola were set alight in Golders Green, north‑west London, in the early hours of Monday, leaving the vehicles gutted and nearby windows blown out after oxygen canisters exploded.
CCTV shows three hooded suspects pouring accelerant before fleeing; no injuries were reported.
The Metropolitan Police say the attack is being treated as an antisemitic hate crime but is being led by counter‑terrorism officers while they authenticate an online claim of responsibility from a little‑known group calling itself Harakat Ashab al‑Yamin al‑Islamia (HAYI). Israeli officials and some analysts say HAYI has suspected links to Iran or Iran‑aligned networks, a line of inquiry UK investigators are pursuing alongside other leads.
Police announced extra protective deployments — including 264 additional officers and highly visible armed patrols — and the government is funding temporary replacement ambulances while public fundraising has raised more than £1.3m for Hatzola.
The Community Security Trust said King Charles has accepted its patronage; political figures urged tougher measures, including moves to proscribe Iran’s IRGC, as the investigation continues.
