Four ambulances belonging to Jewish volunteer charity Hatzola Northwest were set alight in Golders Green, north-west London, in the early hours of Monday, March 23, 2026, in an attack that shattered nearby windows when oxygen canisters exploded.
CCTV shows three hooded suspects pouring accelerant over vehicles before lighting them and fleeing; no arrests had been reported as of March 24.
The Metropolitan Police said counterâterrorism officers are leading the probe, though the incident has not been formally classified as terrorism while investigators authenticate an online claim by a littleâknown group calling itself Harakat Ashab alâYamin alâIslamia (HAYI), which has claimed a string of recent antisemitic incidents across Europe and is suspected by some governments to have links to proâIran networks.
Authorities announced heightened protection measures â including an extra 264 officers, armed patrols and specialist units â and the government arranged replacement ambulances and pledged to cover costs.
The Community Security Trust announced King Charles will become its patron (a planned patronage unrelated to the attack). Crowdfunding raised more than ÂŁ1.3m for Hatzola within 24 hours as Jewish communities in Britain and Europe reported heightened fear and vigilance.
