Dayton James Webber, 27, a professional cornhole player and quadruple amputee, has been charged in the March 22 killing of 27-year-old Bradrick Michael Wells in southern Maryland.
Charles County authorities say witnesses who were riding in the back seat of Webberâs vehicle reported that an argument turned violent and that Webber shot the front-seat passenger.
Wellsâs body was later found in a yard in Charlotte Hall.
Investigators obtained a warrant, located Webberâs vehicle in Charlottesville, Virginia, and arrested him at a nearby hospital; he was booked as a fugitive and is awaiting extradition to Charles County where he faces first- and second-degree murder and related charges.
The American Cornhole League said it would not comment on an active legal matter.
The case has drawn intense attention because Webber, who lost all four limbs to infection as an infant and was profiled by national media for competing professionally without prosthetics, has posted videos showing him handling firearms; authorities have not publicly detailed how the shooting occurred or how the body was removed from the vehicle.
