The Carolina Hurricanes (53-22-7), top seed in the Eastern Conference, open a best-of-seven first-round series at home against the wild-card Ottawa Senators (44-27-11) on April 18 at 3 p.m.
ET at Lenovo Center in Raleigh.
Carolina, making its eighth straight postseason appearance, finished with one of the NHLâs most potent attacks (about 3.55 goals per game) and a strong special teams profile (24.9% power play, 80.5% penalty kill). Ottawa surged late â winning 20 of 29 games after January â and enters with a balanced offense led by Tim Stutzle (34 goals) and physical depth around captain Brady Tkachuk.
Goaltending is a series focal point: Carolina has alternated between Frederik Andersen and Brandon Bussi down the stretch, while Ottawa will lean on Linus Ullmark, who finished the regular season strong.
Key health notes: Senators defenseman Nick Jensen is out for the season and Tyler Kleven remains day-to-day.
Games will air on ESPN/TBS windows and stream on platforms including fubo and the ESPN app.
Oddsmakers list Carolina as the favorite; models project a tight, low-margin series where goaltending and special teams could decide outcomes.
