Kacey Musgraves made a surprise appearance at Coachella’s second weekend on April 18, 2026, returning to the festival for the first time in seven years with a theatrical rodeo-themed set at the Mojave Tent.
Arriving on horseback, Musgraves opened with the newly released title track “Middle of Nowhere” and delivered live debuts of four songs from her forthcoming seventh LP, due May 1: “Middle of Nowhere,” lead single “Dry Spell,” “Back on the Wagon” and “Uncertain, TX” (the latter of which features Willie Nelson on the record). Her set mixed new material with earlier hits such as “High Horse” and “Golden Hour” cuts, and included covers of Brooks & Dunn’s “Neon Moon” and George Strait’s “All My Ex’s Live In Texas.” The surprise slot was announced days earlier via Instagram and came weeks before the album’s release, which features contributions from Miranda Lambert, Willie Nelson, Billy Strings and Gregory Alan Isakov.
Musgraves, a 2025 Grammy winner, also referenced her viral 2019 Coachella moment during the performance.
