A24 and Bandai Namco confirmed Alex Garland’s live-action adaptation of FromSoftware’s hit game Elden Ring will be released in cinemas March 3, 2028.
Production began in spring 2026 in the United Kingdom and the film is being produced for IMAX exhibition.
Garland wrote and is directing the project; producers include Peter Rice, Andrew Macdonald, Allon Reich, and George R.R. Martin, who contributed to the game’s original mythos.
The ensemble cast features Kit Connor, Ben Whishaw and Cailee Spaeny with Tom Burke, Havana Rose Liu, Sonoya Mizuno, Jonathan Pryce, Ruby Cruz, Nick Offerman, John Hodgkinson, Jefferson Hall, Emma Laird and Peter Serafinowicz among others.
Reports say the shoot will run roughly 100 days and that the budget is “well over” $100 million, making this among A24’s largest productions.
Elden Ring, released in 2022, has sold over 30 million copies and won hundreds of Game of the Year awards; the film’s approach to adapting the game’s sprawling, often non-linear lore has not been disclosed.
