Patrick Muldoon, the American actor and producer best known for roles on Days of Our Lives, Melrose Place and the 1997 film Starship Troopers, has died at 57.
His manager confirmed to Variety that Muldoon died suddenly on Sunday, April 19, 2026; Deadline and TMZ reported the cause as a heart attack at his Beverly Hills home, where his partner, Miriam Rothbart, found him unconscious.
Muldoon rose to fame as Austin Reed on the daytime soap Days of Our Lives (1992â1995; returned 2011â12) and played Richard Hart on Melrose Place before moving into film, notably as Zander Barcalow in Paul Verhoevenâs Starship Troopers.
He also worked as a producer and executive producer on films including The Card Counter and the inâproduction Kockroach, which began filming in Australia in midâApril and on which he was credited.
Muldoon is survived by his partner, parents Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr., his sister Shana MuldoonâZappa and other family members.
