Tony-winning director Sam Gold will helm a Broadway revival of Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in spring 2027, producer Seaview announced on April 21.
The production follows a competitive rights acquisition from International Literary Properties, which became the Williams estate’s custodian after a strategic partnership with The University of the South in 2025.
Seaview said the run will be a strictly limited engagement; casting and exact dates will be revealed later.
The project reunites Gold and Seaview after recent collaborations including An Enemy of the People and Romeo + Juliet.
Gold, known for provocative reinterpretations of classics such as The Glass Menagerie and Macbeth, said the play’s themes of mendacity, repression and desire remain strikingly resonant.
The last Broadway revival was in 2013 starring Scarlett Johansson and Benjamin Walker; the play originally premiered in 1955 and won the Pulitzer Prize.
Rights and production deals were brokered by ILP and Seaview’s legal teams, with 101 Productions managing the Broadway engagement.
