Jeff Bezos' secretive AI lab, Project Prometheus, is nearing a $10 billion funding round that would value the company at about $38 billion, multiple media outlets reported on April 20-21, 2026.
The round is said to include institutional investors such as JPMorgan and BlackRock, though the deal has not been finalised and the parties have declined to comment.
Launched in November 2025 with roughly $6.2 billion of initial backing, Prometheus is building âphysical AIâ systems designed to understand and interact with the physical world â targeting engineering, advanced manufacturing, aerospace, robotics and drug discovery.
Bezos and coâCEO Vikram Bajaj have been leading fundraising efforts; the firm has hired researchers from OpenAI, DeepMind and other labs and maintains offices in San Francisco with teams in London and Zurich.
Reports also say Bezos has discussed creating a larger industrial investment vehicle (up to $100 billion) to acquire businesses whose operational data could feed Prometheusâs models.
Prometheus has yet to demonstrate a commercial product and the round remains subject to completion.

Commenters add practical context: Amazon already uses substantial automation and outside investors provide validation and deârisking. Combined, this suggests Prometheus funding could speed up automation in logistics and manufacturing, transforming many handsâon jobs into supervisory and maintenance roles over time.
