Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski said April 22, 2026 that manager Rob Thomson is not on the hot seat despite the team’s poor start to the season.
Speaking before a 7-4 loss to the Chicago Cubs that extended a losing streak to seven games, Dombrowski said he is “looking at everything that’s taking place” but is not considering a managerial change.
The club entered the game 8-15, having lost eight of 10, and has been outscored 49-14 during the skid.
Philadelphia ranks near the bottom of MLB in several offensive and pitching categories (hitting .218, 28th; ERA around 4.99, near 28th), and Dombrowski highlighted underperformance across the roster despite individual contributors such as Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber.
Thomson, who led the Phillies to the 2022 World Series and four straight postseasons, has been given time to right the club; Dombrowski reiterated he typically assesses direction around the 40-game mark but that there is no fixed deadline for decisions.
