Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry confirmed on April 22, 2026 that an adductor muscle tear sustained in training will keep him out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup and the remainder of the 2025-26 season.
The 30-year-old posted on social media that he will not play again this season and will focus on recovery with a view to returning for pre-season.
Bayern had announced he would miss an âextended periodâ after the injury, which came during penalty practice, and the club are still competing in the DFB-Pokal semi-final and face Paris St Germain in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on April 28.
Gnabry has been a regular for Germany under Julian Nagelsmann, scoring 26 goals in 59 appearances; he had been in strong form for Bayern this season.
Germany are due to name their World Cup squad on May 12 and will start the tournament on June 14 against Curacao in Group F (Curacao, Ecuador, Ivory Coast). Gnabry said he will support the national team from home while working on rehabilitation.
