King Charles and Queen Camilla concluded a four-day state visit to the United States this week aimed at repairing frayed ties with Washington amid tensions over the war with Iran.
The king delivered a rare address to a joint meeting of Congress â only the second British monarch to do so since 1991 â urging continued transatlantic cooperation, support for Ukraine, the value of NATO and stewardship of the natural world.
He met President Donald Trump at the White House, attended a state banquet and later laid flowers at New Yorkâs 9/11 Memorial, leaving a handwritten note expressing âenduring solidarityâ with victims and families.
The royals also visited community projects in Harlem and the New York Public Library, and on the final day paid respects to fallen US troops at Arlington National Cemetery.
The visit included meetings with business and tech leaders as the UK promotes trade and investment, and came under tight security following a recent attack in Washington.
Buckingham Palace and Downing Street said the engagements were largely symbolic and ceremonial but intended to reinforce long-standing AngloâAmerican ties.
