Sony and developer Insomniac Games opened their June 2 State of Play showcase with more than seven minutes of gameplay for Marvel’s Wolverine, confirming the PS5-exclusive will launch on Sept. 15, 2026.
The trailer follows Logan as he hunts a cybernetic mercenary faction called the Reavers and rescues kidnapped mutants, introducing allies and antagonists including Jean Grey, Mystique, Sabretooth and Trask Industries’ Sentinel forces.
Combat is visceral and bloody, featuring dismemberment, a rage meter and real-time regional healing; Insomniac says the mature tone is integral to the design but includes an accessibility option to censor gore.
Preorders are live: the standard edition is $69.99 with early-access cosmetic bonuses, while an $80 Digital Deluxe edition adds extra suits, claws and technique points.
Insomniac described the game as a tightly paced, story-driven action experience rather than an open-world city title.
The footage and developer interviews stressed both mechanical depth in claw combat and a darker narrative focus on Logan and Team X.
