The Detroit Tigers completed a three-game road sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays with a 7-2 victory in St.
Petersburg on June 3, 2026, capping a dominant two-day stretch in which Detroit scored 25 runs on 19 extra-base hits.
RHP Troy Melton, making his third start after beginning the year on the 60-day injured list with right elbow inflammation, threw a career-long eight innings, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts while retiring the last 17 batters he faced.
Dillon Dingler drove in four runs, including a three-run homer in the fourth, finishing the series with three homers and nine RBIs.
The sweep followed an 8-0 Tigers shutout the previous night in which Gleyber Torres, Wenceel Pérez and Riley Greene homered and Jack Flaherty earned his first win since September.
Tampa Bayâs Nick Martinez was knocked out after four innings in the finale; the Rays have lost eight of 10 games and saw their AL East lead shrink to half a game.
Detroit opens a homestand Friday with momentum from the sweep.
