The Toronto Blue Jays reacquired right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson from the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations, sources reported June 3-4, 2026.
Woods Richardson, 25, was designated for assignment by Minnesota after a difficult start to the season in which he went 0-7 with a 7.74 ERA in 12 appearances (10 starts). The right-hander, a second-round pick in 2018, has a 12-17 major-league record with a 4.76 ERA across 65 games and 61 starts.
He previously pitched in Torontoâs minor-league system from 2019-21 and was part of the 2021 trade that sent him to Minnesota in the deal for JosĂŠ BerrĂos.
The move returns a familiar arm to a Blue Jays staff that has been depleted by injuries to key starters â including Dylan Cease, Max Scherzer, Shane Bieber and the season-ending absence of BerrĂos â and is intended to add depth and low-cost rotation/bullpen flexibility.
Reports from AP, Sportsnet and TSN confirm the transaction as a cash-only deal with no players exchanged.
