📰 Full Story
British Labour MP Jess Asato has filed a High Court claim against Elon Musk’s AI company xAI, saying its Grok chatbot was used to generate non-consensual sexualised images and an explicit video depicting her.
The claim, lodged in early June 2026, alleges breaches of the UK Data Protection Act and tortious misuse of private information; Asato is seeking damages, a formal finding that the conduct was unlawful, and orders requiring xAI to stop further illegality.
Her lawyers argue the harmful content existed because of design choices in Grok rather than solely user misuse. xAI previously said it restricted Grok’s image-editing capabilities after an outcry in January, but reporters and regulators found those safeguards were easily circumvented.
Grok and X (owned by the same group) are already under investigation in the UK, EU and California, and face other lawsuits including a claim by the City of Baltimore and a separate case in New York.
The litigation comes as SpaceX, which owns xAI and X, prepares for a major IPO.
