Eidos-Montréal, the Montreal-based studio behind recent Deus Ex and Tomb Raider titles and 2021’s Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, announced a reduction of 124 roles and the departure of long-time head of studio David Anfossi.
In a LinkedIn statement published 30–31 March 2026 the Embracer-owned developer said the cuts were driven by “changing project needs and impacts across production and support teams,” and that a transition plan for leadership is underway.
The move follows earlier rounds of job losses at the studio (75 in March 2025, 97 in January 2024 and further cuts in December 2025) and reported project cancellations, including a shelved Deus Ex title.
Eidos-Montréal has recently been focused on co-development work such as Obsidian’s Grounded 2 and Playground Games’ Fable reboot rather than releasing its own major new IP since 2021.
The company said it would support affected employees but gave no detailed timeline or severance specifics.
