Noah Wyle and The Pitt creator R. Scott Gemmill have responded to fan backlash after the announced departure of Supriya Ganesh (Dr.
Samira Mohan) and outlined plans for Season 3.
Speaking at PaleyFest and in interviews published April 16â18, Wyle said Ganeshâs exit is driven by the characterâs arc and the showâs commitment to realism in a teaching-hospital setting, where staff turnover is common.
Ayesha Harris (Dr.
Parker Ellis) has been promoted to series regular.
Wyle confirmed that his character, Dr.
Michael âRobbyâ Robinavitch, will go on the hinted three-month sabbatical shown in the Season 2 finale but will return; creators say Season 3 will pick up after that trip.
The team plans to set the new season in late fall/pre-Thanksgiving (around November) to introduce different seasonal cases and tonal shifts.
Production notes indicate writers and Wyle are already breaking Season 3, with shooting slated to begin in June.
HBO Max continues to stream Seasons 1 and 2 while the creative team balances cast turnover with sustaining the showâs emotional and procedural realism.
