Warner Bros. released the first teaser for Practical Magic 2 this week after a CinemaCon preview, reuniting Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman as the Owens sisters nearly 30 years after the 1998 original.
Directed by Oscar-winner Susanne Bier and adapted from Alice Hoffmanâs The Book of Magic, the sequel assembles returning veterans Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing alongside new cast members Joey King, Maisie Williams, Lee Pace, Xolo MaridueĂąa and Solly McLeod.
The teaser leans on callbacks â a Harry Nilsson needle drop and references to the Owens family curse and âmidnight margaritasâ â and hints the lineage and curse remain central.
The studio lists a September 2026 theatrical release (outlets report Sept. 11 and Sept. 18). Behind the scenes, original supporting players have been left out or recast: Aidan Quinn says he was not asked to return and Evan Rachel Wood has publicly said she was not invited.
Early social-media reaction ranges from enthusiastic nostalgia to criticism over casting choices and the trailerâs contemporary color grading.
