Larian Studios released Hotfix 36 for Baldur’s Gate 3 on March 27, 2026, aiming to resolve crashes introduced by a recent update that targeted corrupted savegames.
Patch notes state the hotfix fixes a framerate drop and crash that occurred when loading savegames, several other crashes, an Xbox tooltip display issue in Inventory and Trade windows, and a Mac bug preventing progression past Character Creation when an introduction cinematic is played on Honour Mode.
Players on Steam and Reddit reported long install times and inconsistent reported file sizes; Larian explained the small differential update requires extra temporary space to unpack, patch and recompress large existing files, lengthening installation time.
The studio reiterated that Patch 8 was the last content update and that future releases would focus on fixes and improvements.
Some reported issues, including Karlach romance triggers and localized frame-rate problems, remain unaddressed and appear to be case-specific.
