Multiple outlet reports this week say Microsoft is considering a new, lower-cost Xbox Game Pass tier that would include only first‑party titles.
A datamine shared by @redphx and reported by Notebookcheck and Windows Central — picked up by TheGamer on March 27–28 — cites a program codenamed “TRION” or “TRITON.” The leaked roster reportedly includes older Xbox and Bethesda-owned games such as Doom Eternal, Doom 64, Dishonored 2, Fallout 4 and Fallout 76, Gears 5, Halo 5 and Halo Wars 2, Hellblade, Ori and the Blind Forest, State of Decay 2 and The Elder Scrolls Online, plus retro classics and Psychonauts.
The rumours follow Microsoft’s subscription reshuffle last year that replaced Core and Standard with Essential and Premium and raised Ultimate from $19.99 to $29.99.
New Xbox president Asha Sharma has signalled a willingness to rethink pricing and bundles, lending some credibility to reports, but Microsoft has not confirmed the tier, its price or launch timing.
Industry discussion centres on whether a restricted first‑party bundle would attract casual players or simply repackage older catalogue content.
