Pop star Lizzo told Gayle King in a CBS Mornings interview airing May 1, 2026, that the public frequently misreads her tone and intentions, and that she is often “tone-policed” as angry or complaining when she is trying to be helpful.
In a preview of the conversation, Lizzo said there is a “long list” of misconceptions about her and that, recognizing how people will take her words, she has chosen to channel messages into her music instead of public correction.
The singer, who broke through commercially in 2019, is preparing to release her fifth studio album, titled Bitch, on June 5 via Nice Life/Atlantic.
Billboard’s preview of the interview also noted Lizzo remains a headline-making figure, including past coverage of lawsuit allegations from former dancers.
The full interview was scheduled to air at 7 a.m.
ET/PT on CBS and be available on Paramount+.
