Barcelona confirmed on May 29 that they have signed England winger Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United on a five-year contract running to 2031.
British media reported the fee at about âŹ80 million (ÂŁ69.3m) plus add-ons; clubs described some elements as largely achievable and included a sell-on clause.
Gordon, 25, arrived having scored 17 goals this season (including 10 in 12 Champions League matches) and was unveiled at the Camp Nou after an extended paperwork delay, answering questions in fluent Spanish.
Barcelona said the attackerâs dribbling, pressing and productivity against them in the Champions League impressed the coaching staff.
Bayern Munich and other clubs had been linked before Barcaâs move.
Gordon is part of Englandâs World Cup squad and will join team preparations after his presentation.
The signing complicates Barcelonaâs plans over on-loan Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford â who has a mid-June buy option of roughly âŹ30m â and leaves Newcastle with funds to begin a summer rebuild while facing the challenge of replacing a key attacking asset.
