Paris and Budapest saw disorder on May 30, 2026, around the UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal.
In Paris, thousands of fans gathered to watch the match on giant screens; authorities deployed up to 22,000 police and by 2100 GMT had arrested more than 130 people after clashes near the Parc des Princes and on the Champs-Élysées that included fireworks, flares, damaged vehicles and storefronts and the use of teargas.
In Budapest, where the final was played at the Puskás Aréna, nearly 4,000 officers policed the city after social media footage showed a street brawl in the 7th district at about 00:20 on May 30 involving roughly 30 supporters from each side.
Hungarian police have opened a case for violent disorder and are analysing CCTV; several arrests were made at a fan festival and for property damage.
Authorities in both capitals said investigations will continue as they seek to deter further violence following the match.
