Canadian Olympic medallists Mikaël Kingsbury and Courtney Sarault were named parade marshals for the Calgary Stampede on June 3, 2026, and will lead the downtown parade on July 3 to kick off the 10-day event.
Kingsbury, from Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Que., capped his competitive career at the Milano Cortina Winter Games with a gold and a silver, becoming one of the most decorated male freestyle skiers and the winner of more World Cup moguls events than any other athlete.
Sarault, from Moncton, N.B., won four medals at the 2026 Games and claimed the ISU Short Track World Tour Crystal Globe this season.
Stampede organisers called the marshal role “the most important saddle to fill”; both athletes will appear on horseback at the parade start (prelude at 7:30 a.m., parade at 9 a.m.). The Stampede runs July 3-12, with free admission to Stampede Park on opening day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The appointments continue a tradition of high-profile marshals that have included musicians, astronauts and past Olympians.
