Christopher Nolan’s new epic The Odyssey will screen in 70mm at Westwood’s historic Village Theatre for a special three-week engagement beginning July 17, the American Cinematheque and Village Directors Circle said.
The Los Angeles venue will present three showings a day on the largest traditional theatre screen in the city, with the booth fitted with restored dual 70mm projectors.
Tickets for the Village run are scheduled to go on sale Thursday, June 4, at 9 a.m.
PT. The engagement is part of a series of fundraising events programmed by the Cinematheque ahead of the theatre’s planned fall closure for a roughly 12-month renovation and restoration, expected to finish in 2027.
Nolan and producer Emma Thomas are among the filmmakers who joined Jason Reitman’s Village Directors Circle to help preserve the 95-year-old movie palace.
The Odyssey, shot with new IMAX film technology, stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Zendaya and Charlize Theron.
