Spotify this week rolled out a trio of upgrades to its in‑app lyrics feature, making lyric translations available globally, adding offline access for Premium users and relocating lyric previews into the Now Playing view.
Translations, first trialled in 2022, will now appear beneath original lines when available and follow the device language; they are free to all users.
Offline lyrics will be saved automatically when tracks are downloaded but are limited to Spotify Premium subscribers.
The new “lyric previews” place a condensed lyrics box beneath album art or Canvas videos on mobile (iOS and Android) and tablets, letting listeners glance at lines without opening the full lyrics page.
Spotify said the features are rolling out gradually worldwide.
The changes come as Spotify seeks to boost engagement with its lyrics product after past licensing delays and a 2024 episode of reintroducing paywalls, and follow similar moves by rivals that have already offered offline or translated lyrics.
